Hoopers: What’s It All About?
Have you heard? There’s a new dog sport in town - and its rapidly growing in popularity.

Hoopers is a fun, low impact, free flowing sport that has a strong following now in Central BC.

Hoopers agility has smooth flowing courses mostly made of hoops, barrels & short straight tunnels. There are no jumps, tight turns, weaves, or contact equipment. There is no full out running by the handler as dogs will mainly be running at a distance. This makes Hoopers suitable for people of all ages & physical abilities - particularly older dogs (and handlers!), young dogs, and dogs whose body build may not be designed for the rigors of agility courses. The equipment is inexpensive and easy to set up, making it accessible to more people.
We will be following Canine Hoopers of Canada rules. The event class levels are Beginners, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Proficient, plus Veterans.
The events are Hoopers (hoops), Parkour (all equipment used), Tungo (tunnels, barrels), Choice (Judges choice of course - Hoopers, Parkour or Tungo). The courses have 2 sets of numbers & the handler has the option of which numbered course to run.

Lesson Progression
We are just starting on our journey to bring Hoopers to the Okanagan.
Dogs & handlers’ skills continue to develop & do not stay the same. Therefore any class can be taken more than once. The classes are tailored to dog/handlers at each level.
Please email hoopers@dogopogo.ca if you are interested in a class.
